These pictures are all taken within 6 miles of my house (as the crow flies). Others who live out here are surprised when they see some of these shots, seemingly unaware of what their own very local environment has to offer.

Fall 09. Coyote Creek.

1/17/08.

A rainy morning in the snow along Salt Creek.

I'm still working on the correct designation for this guy. If anyone knows, please let me know.

The moment, not the view. Salt Creek valley behind our house.

May Day at North Fork, '09

A really wonderful, windy, gusty day. I really like the light in this shot.

3/13/09

I've been along this ridge 50 times before, but the shadow lines have never been this interesting.

Reflection on unnamed creek.

North Fork in early September - colors getting interesting

Amazing variety of greens at Yellowwood Lake.

This is the way it was, folks, at least for a few days on that particular year. (i.e. Not just 'created' on photoshop.)

The FungusAmongUs

Apparently I was supposed to photograph this because the only beam of light in the woods illuminated it very precisely.

Same thing.

Hank's Pond, misty sunrise, July 14, '07

The dogs and I got out at 6:30 am to experiment taking RAW pictures in the mist.

Just off Scarce O'Fat

This and the next 2 shots are a continuing effort to capture the high-canopy woods dappled light effects. It gets very dark in places with little bits of bright light penetrating.

Ok. Occasionally I descend into 'art'. Nature sometimes just insists.

Sorry, have to run.

Drover is hoping Alfie will chase a deer his way. I'm just enjoying the effect of the late afternoon sun.

My Monet series. There were 2 days when the light, the leaves, and the water level were just right for this group of pics.

The dogs almost ran over him. That could have turned ugly.

The dogs decided that this one wasn't worth the hassle.

Yellowwood Jan. 10 '07.

A classic Yellowwood view, though by this time of year this puffy layer of leaves would normally have been plastered down by a snowfall.

The light was just right in the late afternoon.

Sunset on Lake Monroe.

A day to reflect, as it were.

Invasive species or not, purple loosestrife can brighten up a view.

Nature can sometimes place lily pads just as artfully as any human pond designer.

Monarchs on Butterfly Weed.

Luckily, the dogs narrowly avoided running over these guys at the start of our hike yesterday.

The Abandoned Farmstead

Someone used to live in a grove of huge oaks on the edge of Hank's field, close to Salt Creek. This was what they had to look at every day.
